Why Mindset
Why a CTO or Chief Product Officer chooses Mindset, who it suits and who it doesn't.
Mindset is the first agent framework built for AI-first teams. Your builders build agents with a coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor, and your operators run them in production from an AI client such as Claude. Both work on one platform, and people decide what goes live.
One platform for the whole team#
Builders and operators work on the same agents, under the same rules, with the same record of what happened. A coding agent does most of the building, so the team you have can run many agents. An agent's instructions, model and tools are kept in Mindset, outside your product's code, so improving a live agent doesn't wait for an engineering release.

One compliance posture for every agent#
Many people build and change agents, so compliance is set once for the whole org. Admins decide how personal data is handled, which actions need a person's approval and how long records are kept. Mindset applies those rules on its servers to every agent, whatever the agent's own setup, so your team builds freely and the rules still hold.
Agents reach your systems only through actions your team has named. Mindset calls these operations, and they are the list of everything an agent can do. Passwords and keys never reach the AI model, and every action goes into an audit record that can't be edited or deleted.
Two defaults to decide on early:
- New write operationsWrite An operation that changes something in an outside system. See operation approval. are switched on automatically. An admin can turn that off, so a person approves each one before it's used.
- Personal data protection, which replaces personal details before they reach the AI provider, is off until an admin turns it on.
See Compliance.
The plumbing is already built#
Every agent in production needs the same machinery: keeping passwords and keys for your systems safe, approving what an agent may change, testing before a change goes live, recording what it did and rolling back a bad change. With a general agent framework, each team builds that first. In Mindset it's ready for every agent, so your team's time goes on what agents do for your business. See Start with your coding agent.
Built for coding agents#
Coding agents such as Claude Code and Cursor now write much of a product's code. Mindset connects them to the platform through its MCP server, so the coding agent that changes your product also sets up the agents it uses, following rules your team sets once in Mindset.
Without Mindset, that coding agent would build the machinery into your product as well, and your team would maintain it for as long as the agents run. With Mindset, it stays in one place. Keys to your systems never reach the coding agent, every change it makes is a version someone can roll back, and no agent can approve a write. See Why Mindset is MCP first.
Agents that keep improving#
Operators change an agent, test the change against real conversations and put it live without a code change. Every change is a version, so a bad one can be rolled back. Tests run offline: Mindset can't split live traffic between two versions of an agent. See Change something that's live.
Cost you can see#
Every AI model call is recorded and priced. You see spend by agent, model, provider and person, and can prove a cheaper model still passes your tests before you switch. On the hosted service, your agents run on your own Anthropic, OpenAI or AWS Bedrock account, so the provider bills you directly.
Who it suits#
Mindset pays off with many agents and many people changing them. It suits teams that:
- run a fleet of agents rather than one or two
- need agents that vary per customer
- want the people closest to customers to change agents without waiting for an engineer
- embed agents in their own product
Who it doesn't suit#
If you have one or two agents and one engineering team owns them, an agent framework on its own is enough. Environments, approvals and keeping configuration in Mindset pay off when there are many agents and many people changing them.
Where each question is answered#
| Question | Where it's answered |
|---|---|
| Is it safe? | Compliance, Mindset for your security review, Security and approval and Audit and personal data |
| What will it cost? | See and control cost and Use your agents from AI clients |
| Where does it run? | Hosted by Mindset, or in your own AWS account when your data or contracts require it |
| How do we roll it out? | Roll out Mindset |
