To create a new live event within your application, navigate to the Events workflow under Manage, in your administration portal. If you cannot see this within your application, please contact your Customer Success Representative.
Click ‘Add a new Event ’ and select "Live Stream Event." Now populate the Event with:
Name: Give your event a descriptive name.
Description: Optional but recommended for clarity.
Date and Time: Set the date and time for your event.
Image: Upload an image to represent the event.
Next, add Labels. Labels help categorize and manage your events for end-users.
You can create new event labels under Manage → Events workflow and choose the ‘Labels’ tab.
Under the ‘Labels’ tab, select the ‘Create Label’ button.
Next, type in your label name and then toggle on the ‘show label in Events’ button.
After saving, find the event in your event list, select the three dots in the top right corner of the event, and choose ‘Publish event’. This makes the event visible in the end-user interface. To ensure users can see the event, go to the design tab and add the live events workflow to your chosen Navigation tab.
Once the event is published, click on the selected event, navigate to the “stream management” heading and click "Open Live Stream Channel.”
Select between SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) and RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol). SRT is newer and more powerful, but RTMP is the current standard. For this guide, we'll use RTMP.
After selecting the protocol, click "Open Channel." This will provide you with the necessary streaming details.
For RTMP, you'll get a server link and a stream key from the administration portal.
Copy these details and open your streaming software e.g. OBS Studio. Next, choose the ‘Custom’ service choice (other options like Twitch, YouTube, etc., might be available but we use custom here).
In the Server box, paste the server link and in the Stream Key box, paste the stream key.
Apply the settings and start streaming from your software. The stream feed should now be updated in your event management area of the Mindset platform.
Whilst the stream is live, monitor its performance and ensure the stream is running smoothly. The live feed should be displayed in the event interface of the admin portal.
If needed, you can switch protocols. Note that changing protocols will close the current channel and open a new one.
When ready, click "Start" to go live. End-users will begin to see the stream from this point onward. To pause the stream, use the pause button. This stops the video output temporarily but keeps other functionalities like chat active. To end the stream, click "End Stream." The video will then start processing into an MP4 format.
Once the event ends, the video stream will be processed and made available for download. The processed video can be downloaded, paused, or played directly from the event interface.
Separate Devices: It is recommended to use separate devices for streaming and managing the admin console to avoid performance issues.
User Notifications: Ensure clear notifications are set up for users about the stream status (e.g., "Stream will start soon").
Testing: Always test the setup before the actual event to iron out any potential issues.
